Two Communities.
One Philosophy.
Bringing the “Sioux Creek Vibe” to the heart of Balsam Lake.
The Regional Connection
The Woods Golf Course at Balsam Lake and Sioux Creek Golf Course in Chetek are more than just neighbors—they are sister courses. Separated by just 45 miles, these two properties are linked by a shared ownership group, a common vision, and a deep-rooted commitment to the golfers of Northwest Wisconsin.
Expanding the Family
While The Woods is driven by Bruce, Quinn, and Bryan, our sister course in Chetek is powered by Bruce along with his partners Tasha Brandemuehl, Andy Slind, and Tyler Slind. Together, these groups represent a regional network of golf and hospitality dedicated to the players of Northwest Wisconsin. Whether you are at the “Shank-a-Day” Island Hole in Chetek or walking the timber-lined fairways in Balsam Lake, you are part of the family.
Two Destinations, One Spirit
Sioux Creek

The Woods

A 9-hole gem winding through 33 acres of mature timber, currently undergoing a premier restoration to become a multi-day destination with a future woodland campground.
What This Means for Our Players
Being “Sister Courses” isn’t just a title; it’s a benefit for our golfers.
A Familiar
Face
Whether you are playing in Chetek or Balsam Lake, you’ll see the same leadership team dedicated to your experience.
Consistency
in Quality
Under the direction of Superintendent Bryan Tahtinen, both courses are managed with a “land-first” stewardship philosophy.
